Fabric of Consciousness
Material - Cloth imbued with color intelligence of the natural world through dyes sourced from plants ethically foraged from the lands of the Hudson Valley, NY. Stitched together into a patchwork reflecting the unfolding of Consciousness itself.
Installation - Bringing participants into expansive space wrapped by plant dyed fabrics, acting as canvas for projected imagery encapsulating the memories, creativity, and consciousness of its creators, participants and beyond. Co Created during the FREE residency @ TRUE NORTH in Hudson, NY -the inaugural gallery / studio where this piece was created.
Projection - Combining deep neural latent biophilic projections trained on textile and color intelligence threaded with meditative bespoke sonic creations, the Tree of Life delivers an experience that orchestrates a “set and setting” within the interior roots of participants.
Collective
Fabric of Consciousness is weaving experiential art, environment & NFTs. Exploring contemporary mystical representation in the sum total of our manifest universe as it exists, through 3D mediums; fabric, natural dye, up-cycled materials, machine learning, + projection mapping. With equal contributions of the participating artists:
Hannah Ross (@hanoux_) - Artist, educator & natural color specialist preserving ancient dye techniques. Infusing slow textile process into modern designs utilizing biodegradable, regenerative & local materials. Based in NY & Oaxaca, MX.
Chris Unwin (@chrisunwin) - Traveling textile artist exploring ethereal realms of place, memory, identity and culture through the practice of boro mending - a meditative mending of discarded fragments of material/experience into new life, form, perspective. Currently residing in New York; have needles, will travel.
